The Principal of the British International School Gdansk is Robert Grisdale who has extensive experience in the field of international education. Mr. Grisdale previously worked as a teacher and the KS2 coordinator in the British School Warsaw for seven years. Following this, he was Head of Primary and Foundation at Garden International School, Rayong, Thailand for seven years. In addition, earlier in his career, he worked as a Research Officer at Cambridge University where he worked on a number of publications for QCA (Qualifications and Curriculum Authority) in the UK. Moreover, he is a co-author of a second part of the Polish maths exercise book for class 6 'Matematyka wokół nas', as well as the “Przed sprawdzianem” workbook. He also developed numerous mathematical teaching aids. Robert Grisdale has four degrees being a graduate of Cambridge University, where he completed an MPhil in Educational Research; the Institute of Education in London University, where he completed an MA in School Effectiveness and School Improvement; Bangor University, where he obtained a teaching degree in Teaching English as a Foreign Language (PGCE) and Durham University, where he studied Geography (BA Hons). He is also an experienced School Inspector for the Council of International Schools (CIS) as well as an international bridge player. Mr. Grisdale has led the British International School Gdańsk since June 2013.

DEPUTY HEAD OF EDUCATION AND ADMINISTRATION
Katarzyna Lewicka-Gridale is Deputy Head, as well as the English and Drama teacher for the British International School Gdansk. She previously worked as an English and Drama teacher in the British School Warsaw for six years. Following this, she was Head of English and Drama at Garden International School, Rayong, Thailand for seven years. She has three degrees being a graduate of Cambridge University, where she completed an MPhil in Philosophy and Sociology of Education; London University, Central School of Speech and Drama, where she completed a teaching degree in English and Drama (PGCE) and Plymouth University, where she studied English (BA Hons, 1st Class). Earlier in her career, she worked as a Research Officer at Plymouth University and published some of her work in the Cambridge Journal of Education and in a book on 'Education in Europe: Policies and Politics'. In her free time she enjoys yoga and outdoors sports. Mrs. Grisdale has worked in the British International School Gdańsk since June 2013.
DEPUTY HEAD OF EDUCATION
Kevin Reilly graduated with a B.A. Honours Degree in English and Teaching at Greenwich University, London in 2001. He has taught in many schools in Gdańsk since 2008 (including two international schools) and in 2011, he started a successful English language school - GO global - which he and his wife run for many years. He enjoys running, writing and spending time with his family as well as restoring old things and making cool things from junk.
VICE DIRECTOR PRESCHOOL
John was born in Huddersfield, a large town in the North of England. He studied at Leeds Metropolitan University and Anglia Ruskin University where he completed a B.Sc. (Hons) in Information Systems. After working in the IT field for a year and realising it wasn’t for him, he retrained as a primary school teacher at the University of Bradford. Following this, he worked in a Catholic primary school for eighteen years, ten of which as a deputy head. After taking a year out from leadership to care for a poorly parent, he returned to teaching and senior leadership in an outstanding Leeds primary school. He has been employed as a Year 5 teacher and maths lead. As well as a passion for maths, John has a flair for creative writing which he channelled into setting up his own online business creating high-quality teaching resources enabling schools and teachers to deliver dynamic, inspiring writing in their classrooms. John lives in Gdansk with his wife and three children. He has a multitude of interests from playing football and regularly cycling to acting and directing theatre to playing the piano, as well as achieving an MA in film studies, a subject for which he has had a life-long passion.
